Jess first cultured MRSA right after a hospital stay (her only one in 11 years) but it was probably present before the stay.
I have to say, that since testing positive for MRSA she has never done better. appetite is up, PFTs have never been higher, been able to back off Pulmozym and Tobi.

they are not aggressively treating the MRSA, but I've learned not to worry about it.

Let's not rock the boat

Thanks for the responses. I am really upset by it. It just seems rare at our center. Only 10 of the 115? And Aidan is only 4. Plus we are so vigilant about handwashing ect..Do I have to let the school nurse know?

Hello,

I know exactly how you feel. I cried when Zoe cultured MRSA. She cultured it when she was 3. It does cause her problems. She normally does Bactrim when it seems to be causing coughing. She has had to do i.v.s for it before. We do a PICC line though. I personally feel that if a child is in the hospital less than 3 times a year, a PICC will work fine for now. The thing with the port, to me that is, is it is a constant reminder....at least when you get that PICC pulled, you might be lucky to have a few months of not constantly thinking about i.v. meds.
Just my thoughts.....

HUGS to you......
