I'm speechless.
Does anyone know for long she has been in chronic rejection?
I think the radiation kills all the current cells in her body and then they replace them with new cells that will hopefully see the new lungs as her own and not reject them like the current ones. I read about this treatment in the book, "Breathing for a Living" because the woman, Laura, had chronic rejection and so they tried that, too.
I'm just so taken aback.
I just saw the clips of her posted by Joanne under the tx forum and she is such an inspiration. She looked so beautiful and healthy and strong. It seemed like the worst was behind her.
As I eagerly await my own transplant I can't help but to feel this huge risk lying infront of me...no sure thing, just a roll of the dice and what are the odds the gambling will pay off? Yet what is the alternative? There is no cure, no easy solution, no "sure thing." I just wish so badly there were...
