please tell me how are your teeth????

I'm 46 and dont have cf, but my teeth are terrible, I've had plenty of fillings and lost quite a few. My point is that bad teeth at my age dont necessarily mean it's related to cf (except for melissa's post re antibiotics...as far as I know those antibiotics are not used now).

We have flouride in our water here, and where I grew up we had tank water, so that's why I think my teeth are so bad. My kids all have great teeth, my adult children wcf need their wisdom teeth removed due to over crowding, but that has nothing to do with cf. I think the difference is the flouride.

PS just thought I'd add that some pwcf have low calcium stores and osteoperosis. Your daughter might need extra calcium...could be related <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My teeth are ok. Years ago i had a tan line at the bottom of both top front two teeth and a vertical tan line down the center of both. It wasnt too obvious unless you really looked for it, but i knew it was there and it bothered me when it came to when i was getting married. The dentist said it was from medication i had as a child. I had my teeth bonded so they would look evenly colored in the pictures. It lasted about 8 years and when it finally wore off ( after a good 8 years) the tan lines were gone. My teeth are now not too bad looking with the occasional slight yellowing that the dentist says comes with age. When i use a whitener, they come up looking pretty good. I dont know if bad teeth can be blamed on cf itself .... it may be more due to medications than cf.

For years I was afraid to go to the dentist because I caught a bad cold when I was 18 from an assistant. To the assistant the cold was just a minor nuisance-to me it was a pneumonia that caused major bleeding from my lungs.
