Plugged sweat glands and feeling hot all the time

I was wondering if anyone else has plugged sweatglands and have any luck with getting the cleaned out and working somewhat normal again. I am in the hospital getting a tune-up. While here I had another hot flash and almost passed out. My temp dropped to 94.9 while this happened. I have been trying to figure this out for over 2 years. My back started to hurt so I asked for a heating pad. I woke up the next morning and felt cooler. So I started to experiment and found out if I start to sweat I cooldown. I heated up this afternoon and timed myself to see how long it took to cool down. So i covered up and started to sweat alot and it took 40 minuted to cool down. Any help would be greatful as the docters here said it is part of cf and you have to live with it.I dont want to just live with it. THANKS

I will be honest with you, I kinda doubt your sweat glands are plugged, even though it may feel that way. I too am hot very often, especially when I am sitting around, trying to sleep, or sleeping. I wake up feeling like I'm burning up sometimes as well, when I do, either I have a high temp (102+ and sweating) or a very low temp (low 94's but not sweating). It has puzzled me as well for many years. It makes sense to me though that we would feel very hot when our body temp is low because that would make the ambient temperature closer to our body temp. Sweating, on the other hand, will likely only happen if our body temps do increase above normal, as sweating is a way to actually lower the body temp. Sweating when the body temp is only 94 would be dangerous, as it would cause hypothermia.

My best advice, at least what works for me; when you're hot like that, get up and walk around. Being active will help raise your body temp, which may bring some relief. Or, take a lukewarm shower.

Good luck either way. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">)
