Possible Move to Raleigh/Durham

I go to Duke. I've gone there since I was a child. I like Duke. I dont have any problems with it. I went to the children's clinic, then to the adult clinic. I have heard good things about UNC as well. It really comes down to how you like your care, if ur personality works well with the doctors, and if you are comfortable with the care you are receiving from them.

At the Adult Clinic, they usually give me a sputum culture and PFTs each visit. I get x-rays and blood work about every other visit. At first they had me go in every six months, but I meantioned to them that I would be more comfortable going at least 3 times a year, they agree without a problem. When it was discovered that I had Osteoporosis, they were very concerned and wanted me on treatment ASAP. I do not have CFRD or ABPA, so I do not know what they do or how they treat either. Their team consist of : Pulmo Dr, FNP, Dietician, & Social Worker...and you everyone at (almost) each visit. The Pulmo Dr also doesnt like to use medicine that has not been approved for patient use. He would not give me HS until it was offically approved. Which can be a little fustrating but understandable as well.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. I will answer them the best that I can <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">. Good luck.

Just wanted to say I don't think DeFeo is around anymore. He was a fellow. I haven't seen DeFeo in a long time. Also want to point out UNC has approximately 20 cf researchers on staff in addition to doctors.

Defeo moved to Winston Salem a little over a year ago. He was my doctor for three years. I was so sad to see him go I cried when I said goodbye to him.

I think you remember me....we did the "Songs for Sixty Five Roses" cd and benefit concert two years ago. I think you came to the concert.

I wanted to let you know we are having another benefit concert at the Cat's Cradle on May 2nd and May 3rd. I know a lot of the UNC staff are planning on coming. Friday night has already sold 400 tickets! Tickets for the Sat night show aren't for sale yet but if you want to order tickets for Friday night you can at catscradle.com. All proceeds go to the CF Foundation.

Hope you can come! Amy

PS. This also applies to all the other UNC/Duke people on this forum. Email me if you want more info: amyplymale@gmail.com
