Hi Dori,

Our son was on Pregestimil for his first six months. After that we switched to Nestle Good Start, and he did just fine.

John was started on Pregestimil while he was in the NICU, so I just continued on with it, after we got him home. He did just fine with it. At 6 months we switched him to Good Start and whole milk at a year. Is Pregestimil really that much higher in calories? I thought the reason they have some babies on it because it's easy on the stomach to digest.

I have never tried the coconut oil, but have tried many of the other ticks.

Why are they having you wait a year to introduce solids? We started at 6 months, but waited for the whole milk until a year.

Love,

Pregestimil was suggested for Ellie because it's proteins are already broken down to a greater extent than other formulas (i.e., easier to absorb)....Ellie HATED it. It does smell of vomit (Pregestimil sounds a little close to predigested..yea...smells exactly like that!). She is now on Enfamil GentleEase. It's proteins are also broken down and easier to absorb, but it's not at horrid as Pregestimil. Ellie's dietician said to feed her anything with the appropriate texture beginning at 4 months. She also wants us to add butter or sugar when possible. I'm not sure why your dietician wants you to wait so long.....

Hi, my Lexi used it when she was little. She had a short gut from meconeum illeus blockage. Worked well, but smelled pretty bad. It was also expensive.

22 years ago, this was recommended for Cory. Even at 3 weeks old, he REFUSED to drink it. He was placed on Nutramagin. It was broken down like pregestimil so we had to add enzymes but it did help with the weight gain and it had the extra proteins
