Bronchosol, I wish I had known that med sooner on. I did quite a bit of research innitially on the Albuteral when I first found out I was pregnant. I was concerned about it causing any possible birth defects. The only thing I found was the same thing you mentioned about the one strain of mice they tested. The particular study results I found speculated that cleft pallet was unique to that particular mouse family and that none of the other strains tested had shared the cleft pallet result. That did of course leave a little ? in the back of my mind..... I asked my CF doc and my OB doc and they both agreed the Albuteral was safe ( or they did not have any experience with any abnormal fetal outcomes due to the medication)
That is reasurring and not so much at the same time. I agree with you on your comments. I may ask about Bronchosol on my next visit.
Thank you.</end quote></div>
I read the sam thing - I think it is on the pharmaceutical insert that comes with the meds - and I had the same conversation with my Cf doc, and was assured that it was safe. I did in fact stop using it for the frist few weeks I was pregnant, but found I needed it enough that I had to go back on it. I have seen my baby though, and no cleft lip - palate (actually, I don't know if they could see the palate, but no lip - I asked them to look)!
