Well, I have to say that I pretty much fell into the "neither of them can really do anything" category until McCain chose Palin. She's got a special needs kid so she's got some concept of what we (and all long term/catastrophic patients/families) have to deal with.

Of course, I still think it will take an act of God to redo our medical system so it works for everyone but at least I feel like Palin has her own motivations for change where as the others are just using it as a platform.

Fred, just to clarify if you are a US citizen you are eligble to vote in Federal elections regardless of where you live.

You may NOT vote for the local mayor, school board, coroner, etc. But, your vote for President, Senator/Representative is valid even if you live in Timbuktu.

You just need to contact the clerk in the last town you were registered in the US and confirm they still show you registered and get an absentee ballot.

As twisted as it may sound, I belive the best case scenario is if McCain wins and then passes away and we have that lady. I seriously belive that she could help this country. She has not sold her soul to a political party, but power corrupts all and all power corrupts.
</end quote></div>

While I am cynical about universal health care in this country, I do want to see it played out as I firmly do not believe that health care should be for sale. But I'm actually suprised McCain got the bump he did when he chose Palin. Correction, McCain didn't chose her, his campaign advisers did. If Mr. Maverick had his way, Lieberman would be his VP. And the experience, the American people knew about Obama's lack of experience, but chose him anyway, the Repubs chose Palin, not the people. The odds are that McCain will pass away or retire as his mental faculty will probably go, and Palin will be President. This election isn't about Obama vs McCain anymore, it's Obama vs Palin now.

You said that Palin has not sold her sold out..yet, but you're right, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I say McCain, and Pailin all the way.. it does help that she has a special needs child, but she is just fantastic.. she is an average person who understands the needs of the average person. I have believed in McCain more that any other with the military background we know he is strong and won't break in hard times.. He is old enough that he will be president to be president, not to boost his career. he has experience and honor, along with very positive things that he doesn't through out their about himself as bragging right to why he should be president.. he is not boastful at all. Like when his wife was talking about he life and their road and mentioned that the have 2 children from Bangladesh.. I never knew that.. not only has this man fought for our country, he has not taken outs when he could but took the right way of things, he has help by adopting children in need.. what more could we ask of than a selfless president who was practically raised and bred to serve his country and do good by all people........ with that said.. Palin is a tough don't cross me kind of gal with great experience of doing what she says, which most people don't come close.. she is the icing on the cake..
