Prevacid questions

My daughter was having a very hard time gaining weight until we put her on Prevacid. Since putting her on Prevacid she has leaped over several percentiles in weight. We have found it is all about getting it just right as far as her meds are concerned. As soon as it gets out of balance we tweak it again. I would keep on with what is working.

Ok, another question about this Prevacid thing. Morgan did so well on Friday and Saturday with everything, eating great, no gas and no floating poop. Well today, she's still ate really good but all day she's had nasty, fatty poops again. In fact, a bit before bed she was eating and then ran to the potty and she hollered at me shortly after and she didn't even make it onto the potty. She got her panties off and pooped all in the floor, on occasion she'll have a pee accident in the bathroom floor but never poop. If the Prevacid is working like it's suppose to do your kids have days where they have good, normal poops and days where they have all fatty poops?

maybe her enzymes need to be adjusted, or given different ones. im always hesitant on any enzyme advice, just thought it could be something to explore.
i was instructed to start giving my son his enzymes not all at once before the meal, rather i give him two in the beginnig of the meal then half way thru i give him his last one. ofcourse i had to learn pretty much where i thought he was getting full then know thats when i give him his last one. not all meals are the same. he gets three w/ meals given that way. then two with snacks all together though.
i will say that aidan is also on prevacid and if he misses a day it doesnt effect his stools. im sure any longer and it would. but i do see that it does help cause they are really formed and it looks to me that everything got digested good. good luck.

My kiddo has extreme pancreatic insufficiency, so we too deal with this stuff. We've had to increase her Prevacid dose several times and she also takes a combo of Creon and Pancrecarb, because Creon alone was not working for her. The combo of enzymes, with Prevacid has been great. Also, she takes Miralax (a laxative) every day, because she is constantly constipated. Poor thing. It isn't an exact science, so whenever we have digestive issues, I feel like her nutritionist and CF team are at a loss as well. It's so frustrating. I hope prevacid works for you too. It seems to do wonders for Cfers. Best, Elise
