Hi Ann,

I have switched from over the counter acidolphilis (Sp) to Culturelle for the GI issues. So far it is working well for me.

If it helps out w/ respiratory as well that would be great. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> joni

I have my son on a maintenance dose. At least every other day right now due to lack of funds. But if he goes on anti's I do a probiotic in between anti doses and an all natural whole milk yogurt everyday. If we don't he gets terrible rashes on his butt from the antis.

I also have taken Culturelle. I never noticed any difference with my breathing or respiratory issues. I switched to a different, lower cost probotic because Culturelle was costing $20 for a 15 day (if taken twice daily) supply. Yes, you can use it as medical tax credit, but that money doesnt do me any good right now. I will have to do research on the respiratory sytems relationship because I have never heard of it helping that, just the digestive system.

I mostly eat organic yogurt for probiotics. Sometimes, I eat organic yogurt twice a day. That may not be enough for some folks. When I was sicker, I ate it more often than I do now. I found that getting my gut healthier did help my lungs, but my big focus was on getting my gut less acid. I found that had a very direct impact on how inflamed my lungs were. I could feel it: The more acid my stomach, the more I coughed and reached for the anti-inflammatory drugs. As soon as I realized the connection I was able to start reducing the amount of anti-inflammatory drugs I needed while experiencing clear improvements in lung function.
