So I am trying everything I can think of to get Adam's Pft's back to his base line...this has not been a good year for him.

So I went to a natural food store and they suggested probiotics I have never thought of this and the Dr. has never mentioned.

Have any of you tried? does it help? what brand?

She also sold me some cough medicine natural that she says will help to bring up the mucos. It is made by borion and is called chestal honey.

Let me know what you all think.

Thanks for your help.

Probotics are more for digestive and to keep the natural good vs bad bacteria in your body balanced. It doesnt have anything to do with the lungs, at least not in my case. I take Acidophilus. It helps with thrust and yeast infections, especially when taking antibiotics, but that is all I have noticed. It hasnt had any effect on my PFTs, good or bad.

Probiotics have definitely been proven to benefit the respiratory system as well. Culturelle is one specific probiotic that was recommended to us and they did a study on respiratory health as well.

We use a few different brands of probiotics. Culturelle, and Baby Jarro-dophilus. I have also used the adult Jarrow probiotics for myself. My son is 3 and I've been using the baby formulation for him for a while now.

If you googled probiotics for respiratory health you'd find articles and studies about it. They have a new one that has NAC that is used for sinus health now too. I haven't tried it though. I'm going to ask my sons Dr. I also have terrible sinus issues and I'm a cf carrier.
