Procrastination...

here's something I do at work. I'm a cook, and I work alone in the kitchen, so it is easy for me to want to sit down and procrastinate when I'm not feeling well.

I refuse to allow myself to sit down. Everytime I catch myself headed toward the chair, I tell myself, "No, you can't sit down until this stuff is done." Of course, inevitably I let my guard down and I find myself sitting down when I still have stuff to do. When that happens, it can be hard to get up, but eventually i talk myself into it. It's all about rewards. Sitting down and relaxing is a reward; finishing work and going home is a reward. So, I try to focus on those rewards to help motivate me to get work done.

It's not an easy thing to do, and I still stuggle with it every day. In fact, I'm not sure it is something I could do on my own. Perhaps your husband can help? You could tell him, "I'm not going to do ___________ until I finish my work, so if you see me doing _____________, tell me to stop it." Just fill in the blank with whatever it is you find yourself doing when you're procrastinating. I think if you have someone to hold you accountable, it helps.
