Hi ,
My kids just got diagnosed in November and have been put on TOBI (nebulizer) for 30 days on and 30 days off. I am not sure yet if it worked - we are in the 30 day off now and have to get cultured again next week.
I will keep you posted,

Mikayla was 5 months old when she cultured pseudo, they put her on IV TOBI in hospital for 2 weeks and then nebulized TOBI for 3 months. After this her pseudo was gone. That is the benefit of her having cultured pseudo at such a young age becasue they can usually erradicate it completely if the child is under the age of 5 I think it is. After that the body seems to hold onto it more and things are a little more difficult. she has not cultured it again since and she is almost 5 now.

Dee, I was told by our doctors that it is impossible to erradicate and it would always come back....eventually. I am back in clinic next week and will ask them to explain it further. I wonder if it helped your child at 5 months, why they wouldn't put Tessa and Nicky on Toby IV, but on the nebulizer instead? Does anyone know about the amount of pseudo found in cultures. I was told Tessa and Nicky both has the same amount of cultures. They each had two. However I cannot figure out if this is good or bad or in between. Anybody know more? Also like to know more about how to possibly prevent it aside from the obvious handwashing etc.

I sometimes culture pseudo +4. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as I've ben culturing pseudo +4 since I was about 15. Its just different strenghs and strains. Sometimes I culture 2, sometimes 4.

For years I took Cipro when I had a flare up. I have been on TObi alternating months for about 3 years or so. Last year things got a bit complicated & I switched to alternating TObi/Colistin neb, bactrim & zithromax daily. Saving the cipro for when things are really bad. AT the moment I have stailized so hopefully I can pull back on some things soon.
