Pulmozyme "funny taste"

My son who has been using pulmozyme for approx 4 yrs now just started having a funny taste in his mouth as he is finishing his pulmozyme. I looked through the package insert with the med and did not find anything like that. I have a call into the doc, but have not heard anything yet. I was wondering if anyone else had that experience. Oh, it just started, like weeks ago. I changed tubes and the pari neb and it seemed to lessen, but now it is back. Maybe its just him......

Pulmozyme

pulmozyme always has a taste to me, but pulmozyme can cause difficulty swallowing.. so that might have something to do with it since it seems like they could be related side effects...?

I am not sure but wanted to throw this idea out there.

I he coughing sputum up at the end of his pulmozyme treatment or do you notice any sputum on his tongue after the treatment. It may be the sputum he is tasting and not the medicine. Sometimes I can taste thegunk I cough up after a treatment - that is why I mention that.

Otherwise to me Pulmozyme has always had a taste - to me it is a bit sweet though not so much repulsive.

Take Care,
Lindsey

You know how all the drugs your son nebulizes have a smell? Well they have a taste too, which, I've been told, is usually somewhat similar to the smell. I can't imagine it just started bothering him now though, Pulmozyme is one people don't usually complain about the taste...

I thnk Lindsey is right.

I know myself my sputum tastes differently depending on if I get a nice deep cough and plugs come out or areas of bacteria where the bacteria make the sputum taste differently than what I normally cough up (from upper lobes)

Well, thanks everyone for your thoughts, I have asked my son questions based on some of the replies, but nothing seems to fit. I guess its one of those "hmmm" things. But in the mean time, I will just have to keep a check on it until we can figure it out. Never a dull moment.....
