Question for those with HIGHHHHHH pfts

I see some of you would have, what I consider to be very high lung functions. ( 90% +++) As most of you know, I had a tx last year, and my lung functions had ALWAYS been very poor prior to that - I don't remember them being higher then 50-60ish.

Anyway, following my transplant, I finally know what it is to be able to breath (pfts approx 95). I can take a deep breath and don't cough etc.

For those of you with CF whose pfts are 90%+ (without txs) do you feel you can breathe "normally"? Do you never get breathless or clogged up or get coughing fits? I'm just trying to see if the way I feel now is similar to the way you feel all the time...

For example: if you went to the Gym to train, would you need to stop to cough, or would you need to bring a sputem cup with you to cough out? My question is a bit vague but if you could answer, that'd be great! Thanks

my pfts are around 115%. i do get short of breath occasionally, particularly from inflammation.

when working out at the gym i don't usually cough up a lot of stuff...most of my coughs are unproductive. however, if i haven't worked out in a while my lungs hurt pretty bad while i'm running or doing cardio. that's the worst thing - when i've been really active/in shape and then take a week off or something...then my lungs start bothering me even throughout the day when i'm not even working out.

i don't have many coughing fits, but sometimes i do while i'm on the treadmill...which is always awkward because people get very weary and want you to get away from them so i don't get them sick. *sigh*

hope that answered your question...let me know if i need to clarify anything

Shamrock-I think it is hard to answer about what it feels like since this is all I/we know. You have a great perspective since you have two different scenarios to get a feel for comparison but I will try.

I dont normally get breathless except before I was diagnosed and I was pretty sick then I would alot. Now that really only happens if I am pretty sick. When I go tot he gym I sometimes cough a bit but normally dont cough out much, I am able to act like I wipe my face and discreetly place it in a washcloth/towel thing that epopel use for sweat. (at least I hope it's discreet) Luckily when I go in the morning almost everyone has earbuds in so most poeple cant hear me if I am having a 'coughy' day. I alwyas go the gym after my breathign treatments but not long enough after that the pulmozyme is starting to get things loosened up if that makes sencse.

Feel free to ask me any more questions I will try to answer.
