Guys, I'm a little nervous. I've notice that when I cough junk up lately (the last 2 1/2 weeks) it has had streaks of blood. I haven't been feeling well the past few months, and I really don't want to call he doctor and be all paranoid about it. Its not bright red or anything like that, and alot of times is almost brown.

I guess my question is a two parter. Has this happened to you? And if so what was causing it?

I guess it could be from the coughing, right?

My boyfriend had that a few times. For him when he has streaked sputum it means is starting with an infection an he needs to take an antibiotic. I think you should check that with your doctor.

I cough up blood or streak blood a LOT of the time. HOWEVER, mine does NOT mean infection. I used to go on IV's at the first sign of blood, per my dr. But then I'd be coughing up blood on IV's etc. So mine does not mean there is anything going on in my chest. That's just me and that's my 2 cents.

Like I said, that's just me.
