DS is used to swallowing 4-6 enzyme capsules in one shot, followed by a a drink of milk, water... I have put the whole enzyme capsules on a spoonful of applesauce, too.

The "I'm full" sounds like a power struggle issue. DS isn't a big eater or drinker -- he's more of a snacker. Meal times he dawdles and drives me nuts. Says he's full and negotiates with his dad as to how many more bites or drinks he has to have before he's done.

Some people split up enzymes -- give a couple right before eating, maybe during and some after. We just give them all at once before a meal, though with snacks, I'll let him eat a bit and then give him an enzyme or two. Last night while I was driving home he ate a package of peanuts he dug out of his backpack and I couldn't reach my purse to hand him some enzymes, so the minute I got in the door, I gave him a few with some juice.

Somewhere I read enzymes were good for a certain amount of time -- half hour to an hour... Hopefully someone here has the correct answer...

OK, first, I'm glad to hear that somebody else gets excited over 6-10 bites in a sitting! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Secondly, we were told somewhere along the line that we had a 45 minute window with Pancrecarb. We have noticed that Emily eats less if she has the enzyme at the beginning of the meal. I think that she, too, gets "full" on the applesauce, or, that the beads leave a bad taste in her mouth. So, we give her 3-4 enzymes after she starts eating, (15 minutes in, or so) then we'll do 2 -3 more at the end of the meal if she has eaten a lot. (That's not usually the case).

We are not at the taking enzymes with liquid stage yet (hopefully soon - I'm sick to death of applesauce) . I thnk I remember reading someting about putting the capsules in a wide straw and swallowing them all down with one gulp of liquid. This would make me gag, but, everybody's different.

Luckily my daughter takes her enzymes in one shot also. Maybe you should try to have her take the enzymes with a high calorie drink so getting full from the drinking will be worth something. We never let our daughter drink juice or water with meals. It's always a high calorie drink such as milk w/half & half, milkshake, Ensure etc.

As far how many calories a day a 5 year old needs varies based on metabolism. Our nutritionist just suggested bumping our daughters up to 4000 a day because she wasn't gaining anything at all.
