Okay the reason I ask this is because I think I may have it. I was listening to myself on a video last night and I realized that I clear my throat a lot and it always sounds like I need to clear my throat not to mention the hoarseness I gett ALL the time.

Sometimes Ill get that burning heartburn feel like in my throat and sometimes Ill take a Tums when I do but not always. My voice always seems to be hoarse and it seems to really never get better. My throat is not sore. I use to think that the reason my voice got hoarse is bc of my inhalers and aerosal meds, and I use to think Tobi was always the culprit, I dont think so any more. One more thing I notice that one day my voice will be fine but once I go to my moms house depending how long Im there, my voice all of a sudden goes hoarse. I think it is an allergy thing there bc my mom has a stinky dog and a cat I think its mainly the dog, my mom also smokes but she goes outside. I also forgot that my sinuses drain at times too, I use flonaze and astelin for the nose and I rinse my nose out 2x a day with saline and I like to talk loud too and I dont mean to either.

I was wondering if a lot of people on here with CF has a problem with reflux and if so what are or were your symptoms and what did the doc do to diagnose you, and did your CF doc or another doc diagnose you with reflux or GERD I guess you can say.

Hey!!

I also get reflux sometimes but it is not consistent...some weeks I can eat pizza and anything I want and other weeks I can't eat anything without my tums!! My dr told me not to be too worried until it wakes me up in the middle of the night though. Luckily for the past 2 months I haven't had a problem (knock on wood!!!).

I constantly clear my throat and my voice is always hoarse too. I get at work alot "are you sick?" I still think it is the Tobi and the other meds I take. It seems the more I do them the more hoarse I become. But I never really talked to my dr about that.

You might have allergies, have you talked to your dr about it? One thing I did that kind of helped the throat clearing was to drink more water...sounds weird I know but I swear it helped!!!

I have really bad GERD. It often kept me from falling asleep at night cause of the burning sensation in my throat and chest. I also clear my throat a lot, but don't know if that is why...

I am on Prevacid (Rx) twice a day 30 mg. and that seems to help quite a bit.

When I don't take it even a day here are my symptoms (may or may not be related to GERD, but I think mostly so):

Short of breath
Nasueous feeling and burning when working out
Short of breath when working out
"Burpy" and burning when laying flat or even at an incline
Clearly throat and coughing a lot (non productive) cause of a "tickle" sensation (even without nasal congestion)

I drink tons of coffee and espresso and will NEVER give that up, so I'm sure it doesn't help. Usually when I drink a lot of coffee too close to the gym, I feel absolutely terrible, like I'm going to pass out from exertion on the treadmill, its bad. So, I assume a lot of my symptoms when I workout are caused by reflux.

Hope you find some answers and releif!

I have it BAD too. I am on nexium 40mg twice a day, and ranitidine 300mg at bedtime. I have had multiple scopes done and I have ulcers. The meds help though. I also clear my throat constantly, it drives my husband nuts, but I think it's from my sinuses.
