Random CF encounter

Oh...and my mom went to our local fabric/craft store to get beads and charms because she makes "65 Roses" bracelets and she happen to be talking about them to another lady in line and the cashier (teenager) started to ask questions like how to purchase one and finally told her that HE has CF! I thought that was CRAZY!

I've had a few. In 2 of the cases, I never had the nerve to ask them if they had CF, but I'm 99.9% sure they did.
One was a cashier at Party City, she had the clubbed fingers & everything. I wanted to ask, but didn't in case co-workers didn't know.
The other is a young man here in my town that has the 'CF look' about him & the oxygen he carries around is a dead giveaway too. Again, I was too chicken to say anything, we were in line ordering sandwiches at Subway...not exactly the best place to bring it up.
One time, I was in the cafeteria at Barnes Jewish & there was a young lady at the table next to me. She was with her mom & an infant and she was in a wheelchair, and I think on 02, so I asked if she had CF and I said I did too, so we talked a little.
How funny that you did this post.
Am I the only one that is really in tune with those around me? Especially if I hear them coughing.
Just today I was at WalMart, checking out the girl that was ringing up my things, thinking that she looked like she may have CF. After closer inspection, I deduced that she most likely didn't.
Just wondered if I'm the only one that does this....do I need to get a life? lol

Not very long ago i wrote a paper for my english class about my brother and HIS cf, when my professor handed back the assignments she asked to talk to me after class (lol she had me alil worried that maybe my paper sucked)...it turned out that her sister had cf. It was sort of a weird coincidence because I am from a very small province and never came across anyone by chance that knew about cf before.

When I was a todler my parents saw a story on the news about a teenager with CF who's purse had been stolen. She was saying that she had medication in it that she needed. My mom called the number and told her that both of her kids have CF and if she needed enzymes that we had plenty. Turns out the girl had enough but she was just trying to get her stuff back. The girl asked if she could meet us since she had never known anyone else with CF. She was our babysitter for a while.

In about 7th grade an new girl moved to our town and we ended up sitting next to each other at lunch. I started coughing and she asked if I had CF. I was totally shocked. Turns out that someone at her old school had it.

About a year ago I met this guy Mike on myspace. I'm really open about my CF so I said something on my page about it. He had a friend who passed away from CF complications, I don't remember his name though.

This girl at work "outed" me to all my coworkers. Turns out her roomate has CF and she heard my cough and saw I was thin so she asked in front of all my coworkers if I had CF. It did NOT go over all that well

I was at the pharmacy picking up a med and as the girl range it up, she said, "wow.. i've never seen insurance save so much on a prescription (it was pulmozyme)." I replied that she should see Tobi and then turned to leave. At that moment the girl (well... 20something) standing at the front of the line next to me said "do you have cf then too?"

What's the crazy weird probability of that?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?

OMG!!! Sue that exact thing happened to me too! I was coughing at work and a co-worker outed me! Her college roomate had CF and she used to do her CPT and stuff which she just yammered on and on about all the glories of CF until finally I was like SHUT UP!
And my Chemistry Teacher in highschool I think his nephew or someone had it. Both he and his wife came to visit me in the hospital...that was really sweet. Too bad I stunk at Chemistry <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
