I got my seasonal flu shot on Fri as I do every year and 2 hours lady I feal really fatigued with body aches , I had a very mild fever 99.9. Today is now Sunday and I still have the body aches, my arm is still sore, it actually feels like I had a flu shot in both, what is bother ing me the most is my neck and shoulders are aching and I haven't had this feeling since over a year ago before I had iv abx.

Anyhow I have no more fever at all no other symptoms just my arms, legs, neck and shoulder ache still. My arms and legs kind of feel like the day after I do a really hard , new or long workout at the Y. I know this is normal side affects from the shot but I don't remember having the body aches in previous years , I just know my arm is usually sore for a day or 2. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this I was thinking maybe it's just this years strain or something. I really hate to have to take tylenol or advil as I haven't needed to take it all the time since over a year also.

hey, Laura.

i had a very similar experience this year with the seasonal shot. i actually thought it was my infection cause it came on about a day after getting the shot and lasted about 3 days. my fever reached 101, even with tylenol. after those three days of terrible chills, aches and fever, it just went away and i felt fine.

when i mentioned this to my nurse, she said for some reason there have been a lot more complaints this year about fever (at least from her CF patients), so she wasn't surprised at all. said almost all of them have had side effects from it, even people like me who have never had any sort of reaction other than sore injection site.

so, keep an eye on it and if it doesn't go away, of course, go in, but i wouldn't worry too much as long as your fever stays low grade for only a few days. it does seem weird that so many are "suffering" from the seasonal shot this year. i've NEVER had any problem so was shocked when it happened to me.

here's hoping you feel better soon!

I may be off base on this but you may want to see if you were given a live vaccine or not. I used to get the live vaccines and I had similar symptoms in the few days after my shot and the day I got it was always a wash. Since my transplant I am not permitted to have live vaccines and I have not had this issue.

So it may just be the type of vaccine you are receiving that is causing the symptoms.

Ladybug- Thanks for sharing I'm glad to hear it's not just me . I was thinking it might be just this years mutation or strain because like I was saying I don't remember ever having anything but a little arm soreness.

Coltsfan715 - I got the shot so I know it wasn't live vaccine, from what I understand the live virus is only in the flumist nasal spray which I don't think anyone at risk is supposed to get or even be around those that did receive it recently.
