They explained the appeal process to us and then indicated they did have a finance department if we exhausted all the appeals. We ended up having to pay a small amount -- $500, but that bill was sent about a YEAR after we'd gotten the vest. And I'd been socking away money since he was diagnosed 'cuz originally I thought we'd be responsible for 20% of the costs. The TOTAL cost for the vest was about $12,000 from Hill rom

$15,000/year doesn't sound right to me either. That was the total cost of our vest. Our portion was $805 and some change. Have you called Hillrom? There has to be a mistake somewhere.

frustration. i just spoke with the houston representative for hill rom. i should invest in a phone conversation recorder. i noticed he was a whole lot less ass kissy today.

i told him i've heard from a few CFers who had their vest paid for by hill rom accepting the annual max until it's paid off. he told me about a conversation he had with his manager that basically said "i don't think we do that anymore." apparently the person he's been talking to is on vacation. he said he'd call me back. i told him he wasn't getting the vest back.

it's probably not in their best interest to pursue legal action if i keep the vest. they can sell the bad debt to collection and write off the rest as a tax deduction. they write off the gross amount that went into accounts receivable (minus collection) which is way larger than cost of goods sold. any remaining loss would be lower than potentially upsetting prescribing doctors.

I wonder if indeed they have changed their billing, payment procedures. It would be good for us to know IF that was truly the case.

What if anything did he say when you told him he isnt getting it back? LOL Tell him that he has a whole crew at CF.Com (many who are Hill Rom Users) to go up against!
