"The hospital would now stock water, fruit juices, milk and sports drinks as well as fruit, nuts and a healthier range of cakes, muffins and cookies."

Wow, water and fruit, that's sure to pack the pounds on a CF kid <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

I hate that the responsibility of people (or parents) has just been absolved. Let's just make no food in the whole world with fat or calories, that'll make everyone happy! (or not).

I reckon a parent of a CF kid should take it to Today Tonight or some equally obnoxious TV show <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

(As a side note, I've stayed in a few hospitals in Brisbane and their food was all excellent. St Andrew's gave me steak (yes, real steak), cut it up for me after my sinus operation, then offered me seconds and I got another steak. The Wesley was also good and gave me extra if I requested it. The only place that wasn't so good was the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital, and that was many years ago so it might have changed.)

that article really really makes me very angry... why should you punish everyone because of the parents who are to f#$%^ing stupid to teach their fat kids some self control... like what the h3ll ... that really makes me angry... does it ever occur to them that there are people in the hospital who need the extra calories. not just cfers.. but like come on.. if you're sick you loose weight.. when you're really sick and you loose a lot of weight junk food is a good way to help try to pack some pounds on... not to sound rude but scr3w fat kids go on a f-ing diet don't make everyone suffer cause you're fat... seriously this article really really really really really makes me angry

We live in Warrnambool and when kj is in for a tune up it costs me a fortune because she wont eat the hospital food served on the wards. The hospital cafetaria for the staff serves way better food and thats where i buy hers from. or i make it at home and take it up to her. The hospital is also supposed to provide her with pkt chips and all they give her is the tiny multi pack chips which are usually stale and she doesnt eat any because they are stale. She only reason puts weight on in the hospital is because i provide her with fatty decent food. and also there version of steak is mushed up meat squished together to look like steak lol.

Its a very stupid thing, when people can decide for themselves if they want to eat the junk food or not. I hate those ridiculous patrolers. People know that those foods are high calorie and full of crap, its not like they are ignorant! If they want to eat it, let them. They don't think about all the people in the hosp that have no appetite or are so skinny and need calories-I remember being little and that's how the nurses would bribe me. If I ate a full meal I could go get ice cream or a candy bar.

I think they must have some sort of special diet for children with cf... I've always had a special card where i had to fill in my food, a high calories one.. With wiped cream with deserts for instance.
I think the CF docs and dieticians won't be satisfied with this either, and i'm sure they will sort it out on the ward.. won't they..

socialist governments horrify me....</end quote></div>

A tad bit o.t:
First off, Australias government is just as conservative as the US. Second, there aren't any real socialist governments, Europe has some Social Democracies though. Funny though, those countries are ranked as the best countries in the world to live in by the UN, they are also some of the richest countries in the world. And they take better care of their inhabitants than any other country in the world.

then on topic:
That sucks. I remember when I had to go in to the hospital several times a year as a kid, I hated the food there. Vending machines and sneaking off to the kiosk was the only thing that kept us going.
