Sexual Health and C.F.

I am a 32 year old male with C.F. and am married. I want to know if men with C.F. commonly have any loss of sexual interest or low testosterone levels which could contribute to this? Haven't spoken with anyone about this but need to know. I also haven't found any information on this so if anyone knows I would appreciate any input. I do work full-time and attend school on a part-time basis so I am tired quite often which would be a common factor for many men who may not a decreased sex drive. I know this is a sensitive subject and I do not mean to offend anyone. Thanks.

I know Im not a male with cf but from a females point of view I would be intrestered if lack of engery plays a part. I know that due to CF I am tired alot and dont have alot of engery to spare each day. I kinda always attributed my low sex drive to that. But it would be nice to see if anyone else with cf feels this way.

Do you have low testosterone levels?

I ask because my husband Mark tested for VERY low testosterone on at least two occasions when he was tested. It was actually so low that the doctors didn't have any expectation to retrieve sperm from him (his Testosterone was tested for IVF/sperm retrieval), However, on both occasions of retrievals, they found plenty of sperm.

They did put him on Arimadex (clomid) and that helped to increase his testosterone levels.

Low testosterone levels can contribute to loss of sexual interest. As can feeling run down and tired can also contribute to loss of sexual interest. I know for my husband, when he's got a lot going on (and is starting to wear himself down physically) the sexual interest goes right out the window.

If I were you, I'd ask my family doctor to test your testosterone level. At least if that is the culprit, you can remedy it with some medications.

I also am not a man (hubby will be glad to hear this <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">) & I have definite lows. I cant really say its when I am sick or healthy, on meds or not.

I have highs & lows with both, but there is a definite correlation with the CF. I just havent pinpointed it quiet yet.
