If you are on medicare (after being on SSDI for 24 months), and you go back to work and start earning a good amount, you can still keep your medicare for 96 months after you are no longer elgible for SSDI.

There is some specific criteria to meet in order to qualify for SSI or SSDI. Do you have any work history?

So I talked to my social worker today and she said that when I turn 18 to go to the office and siaghn up for SSI and Disability.

She agreed with my Dr that it was a good idea to get on it.

Now I am just dreading going there and filling out all the paper work.

They'll count going to college and working against you

it can be a pain and take forever--not something you just sign up for---some have died while waiting for the process
