Showers

I'm still pre-transplant but when I was down in the Cardiac ICU (which is where post-txs will be after surgery) with my last admission at Shands Hospital, there is no such thing as a shower in ICU. I was lucky to have a toilet! The nurses looked at me funny when I asked to shower. I was there 4 days! I was the healthiest one in there at the time so I got the toilet but I am not expecting a shower until probably about 14 days out. I'm going to use the dry shampoo stuff and the wipes are a good idea! I hate not showering also. I'm having trouble breathing in the shower lately because of the humidity of it so maybe I'll get used to the idea of being gross. Heheh.

Piper, I didn't know you guys couldn't shower. How crazy!

this may be a really stupid question but when you can't actually have a shower after transplant do you not wash at all? does someone (a nurse i guess) wash you or do you just wait until you can shower yourself? i think i'll find that tough..not even having the independence to shower myself.

you can shower as soon as they take of the bandages wich was about a week for me =/ but right after you cant take baths it has to be showers
