Its a bit late now, but the first thing I would have said is to start gathering the medical records yourself. They will have you sign a release for them to do it tho.
Bring social security cards, birth certificate, list of prescribed meds. IF you are filing for SSI and not SSDI they will need proof of rent/mortgage, utilities, insurances. Basically anything you have a monthly bill for.
