my son takes augmentin in addition to the usual neb stuff whenever he has a goopy cold for more than a week to help ward off secondary bacterial junk; it seems to work most of the time. We've debated with his CF doc. the possibility of frequent augmentin leading to resistant bugs, but for now at least are seeing this as the lesser of evils.

We do sinus rinses and nasal steroid sprays, too. We do the spray year round. Also, just wanted to comment on singulair. It is approved for use in children 12 months and over.

Is it 12 months old now? That is great! Marissa got on it when she was seven going on eight, her doctor had to be begged to try something "allergy" related to control her. Her doctor said at the time (2 years ago) that it was not recommended for kids under 12 years old.

She agreed to try it and see if there was any improvement, every stuffy or runny nose led to an ear infection or sinus infection or both, leading up to a climax where she was put in the hospital and needed IV antibiotics because of an ear infection that just kept getting worse. Before the singulair she got an infection and had to be put on antibiotics every month. She has had only had ONE sinus/ear infection since being on Singulair (TWO YEARS AGO), and it was one that was starting up at the same time she first started taking it.

This is one of the things that I know we did right and would repeat.

Good luck,
Terry

My son gets symptoms exactly as you describe. Its very annoying. I am waiting for an appointment w/ our CF center to see what they think. I'll keep reading to see what suggestions you get. I just wanted to let you know someone else knows how you feel.
