Thanks for the suggestions. And Michelle, your comment about infections not being 'local' reminded me that they keep going back and commenting about his chest CT they did and his right lung...

In psychology, they have an expression about "the presenting problem" (or something like that). In other words, it's the thing someone comes in complaining about but not necessarily what needs to be fixed. Often, it points to deeper problems which have to be addressed before the "presenting problem" will resolve. When I am real sick, I find it's the same way: there is something wrong with the system and whatever I am complaining about is just the tip of the iceberg.

Again, good luck to your dad.

I second the Neilmed sinus rinse. It really does offer relief. Also advil to help with pain and inflammation, and my CF doc actually told me to take Mucinex DM in the short term only when I had a recent sinus infection (they made a big point about only taking it in the short term, I think cause I have CF and it is drying).

However, if none of the drugs are working, surgery is probably the way to go. That's exactly what happened to me several years ago. Now I do the things listed above as prevention and for relief when feel a "flare up" coming on. Good luck, and I hope he feels better soon!
