I haven't had to take antibiotics for a sinus infection in several years... and this is coming from someone who has had four sinus surgeries in the past.

Your dad will probably have to have the surgery done, but fortunately he's likely to never need it again if he keeps up with the sinus irrigation.

Whenever I get a bad sinus infection I get pus oozing from my eyes too. I've been doing sinus rinses since my surgery last year and it's helping, though I'm not 100% sinus infection free unfortunately. I agree with the others that the root problem might be deeper than a sinus infection. However sinuses drip down into the lungs and have been known to cause lung infections. Back before my CF DX (a few months ago) that was the 'working hypothesis' of the otalaronologist (sp?) for yours truly... ~Juliet
