Sinus problems?

Pammie,
Sorry to hear of your sinus problems. I am now 47 (w/cf) and to date have had 19 sinus surgeries. I am currently in discussion with my sinus doc to have another. I've had polyps many, many times. I've had bone removed to enlarge the opening to my frontal sinus's. I have been going to the doctors office at least every 10 days for the past 2 years to get "cleaned out" since my sinus's will not do it on their own.
The surgeries have improved greatly over the years and are much easier to recover from. All in all, things can always be worse. You just have to keep a positive outlook.
I wish you the best. Hopefully your sinus issues will not be as constant as mine.
Dave

I've never had sinus surgery and I'm avoiding it at the moment. I'm doing IV antibiotics instead because I don't have time for the month-long recovery right now. I have chronic sinusitis. I'm on allegra and nasonex and will start up irrigations again after I get some relief. Right now my sinuses are too blocked to irrigate.
</end quote></div>\

It would not be a month recovery 1-2 days, week at the most....doesn't IV {PICC} restrict you also?

My sinuses used to be completely blocked. My first surgery did not help for longer than a year. For the second one, I went to a specialist 3 hours away who used the 3-D MRI (or something) throughout the procedure, which allowed him to access much more of my sinuses safely.

Now I keep them flushed out with saline irrigations, once or twice a day. I use a bulb syringe. I bought a nasal irrigator water pik, but it's a hassle, and I no longer use it. I keep the polyps at bay by staying on Singulair and Zyrtec daily, to prevent allergy symptoms.

I do still get headaches and pressure, alot. It is much better though.
