Sinus Surgery

I am on my 8th day out of sinus surgery. Yes they put you out. My only advice is stay on the pain meds and a decongestent. Depending on what you are having done (I had septum, turbanets(sp?), polops & scraping) I would plan at the minimum a full week for recovery. Good luck!

Everyone is a little different. I have had two sinus surgeries. My first one was really easy, I had polyps removed through my sinuses. I had the surgery on Friday and was back to work on Monday. My second one took place a couple of months ago and it was to remove infection and scar tissue through my sinuses. This one did not go as smooth, but still not to bad. I had surgery on Wednesday and was back to work on Monday. They did not pack my sinuses with either surgery so I never had to go through having the packing removed. I would like to wish you a quick recovery.

My son, aged three, has already had two sinus surgeries. He had polyps both times and was totally filled with infection. Yes- you are put out. Aidan recovered awesome from both. He never even needed Tylenol. He continued with his hour VEST treatments even the day of the surgery. I've heard it can be a little worse for adults though. Good luck.

I had my 2nd FESS on Jan 18. I was under general anesthesia both times. Both times I had minimal pain and only ended up taking the pain meds for the first day or 2. I stuck with regular Tylenol after that.

The packing is annoying and so are the splints if you end up having a septoplasty. I had my surgery on a Friday and went back to work and doubled on Tuesday. Everyone has a different experience though.

The 1st surgery I had, I had no packing or splints, this last go around was a much more major surgery (septoplasty, turbinate reduction, ethmoidectomy, frontal sinusotomy). It did take about a month to feel completely back to normal as far as energy and whatnot, but keep in mind that I was back to work full time as well.

The good news is that after my surgeries I feel so much better, and I think that's true across the board.
