sinus surgery!

I just signed up for sinus surgery! I'm super nervous about it (I haven't had this type of surgery since I was 12!) but also super excited that I'm being so proactive about my health! And I'm sure I will feel so much better afterwards!

My question is this:

what is the recovery time for this? How much time off work should I expect to have to take?

Thanks!!!

I usually get my surgery on a Friday and then take off the whole next week after that. I usually just don't sleep well and my nose bleeds for a long time so I'm super uncomfortable. What I have done in the past is get the surgery on the Friday before Thanksgiving then take off M, T, and W. I get Thursday and Friday off. So I'm only taking 4 sick days and getting off 6 plus the weekends which works for me!

Thank you so much! Also, are there any complications CF wise we need to be aware of? I'm really jittery about getting this done--I have never been hospitalized for my CF before so I'm not sure what the protocol is. Is this something that can be done outpatient? My surgeon apparently does this procedure on CF patients all the time, but I'm still nervous about it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My recovery was very quick. I had my surgery on Friday and was back to work on Monday. I suppose the recovery time would be slightly dependent on what u had done (septoplasty with splints would likely prolong things). They are usually done outpatient, with minimal pain afterward. I usually only have about 12-24 hours of post-op bleeding. When is your surgery? I'm having one the 29th.

November 4th. I also have a deviated septum, which they will also fix, so I think that WILL complicate things. Is that the same as a septoplasty?

My 6 year old son is having his 7th sinus surgery in two months. His recovery goes okay usually depending how extensive his surgery was. We do ALOT of rinses daily after the surgery for a few weeks to clean things out. That really helps! Good luck.
