Yesterday afternoon my cough increased and I could tell it was from sinus drainage. I think it's because of increased outdoor allergens and stuff blooming. Anyway, I rinsed out my sinuses when I got home from work, but I continued coughing. I coughed until about 3 in the morning and finally went to sleep with sleeping aid (1 Benadryl). My cough continued today (I took a 1/2 of a Benadryl, since it makes me sleepy.) and I wonder if it's dropping into my lungs.
So, here are my questions: How do you know when it's moved into your lungs? How long do you wait before contacting the doctor? Also, does anybody have any suggestions of things I could do at home to prevent this sinus thing from dropping into my lungs? (I rarely go outdoors unless to walk from house to the car and vice versus. If I'm out longer, I wear a mask. I have tried to work on getting rid of allergens around the house.) Any advice would be much appreciated. <img src="i/expressions/coughing.gif" border="0">
