My son is 14 months old and has CF. He has always had trouble sleeping for longer that a hour or two at a time. I am totally exhausted and am wondering if this is common in CF kids? Have any of you had experience with this. What helped if anything. I am not willing to let him cry it out so I just have to get up with him everytime and help him get back to sleep. Please any advise would be wonderful!

You know, DS sleeps through the night, our problem lately is that he always needs us to put him to sleep. It hasn't been a problem until now, because I think it's time for him to start learning to fall asleep by himself.

Is he a light sleeper? Is there a reason he's waking up at night? I don't know that sleeping problems would be related to CF except if he's got a cold that he's been fighting or something.

With my oldest, at about 10 mos. we started rubbing his back at night to go to bed (before that, we co-slept). He would wake up still about once a night (breastfed) until he was weaned at a year.
Also, what I found last night, is that it is harder to let my CFer cry than it was with my non-CFer. I think it's a natural thing to be more nurturing with them ( I know it sounds bad, but true with me). I never worried about much with my first son, but with Parker, I worry about a lot more.

I know there probably isn't much you can take from my post, just wanted to put in my 2cents. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

No, I don't think it's something that is common to CF... except perhaps if it is sinus related....is he too stuffed up and is having trouble breathing?

Have you mentioned this to the doctor? Sounds to me like it may be something other than CF related and if it's been going on for 14 months now, you should have it checked out.
