Smoking

What I was saying was that the law, in idea, was a good plan (although even before it was passed, I never really had any trouble avoiding smoke indoors). However, when it was actually put into action, a whole new problem was created (as Emily said). I feel that seeing the way the streets are so full of smokers outside of restaurants/bars/clubs now, the law should be modified to ban smoking while just standing around outside these establishments too- not only because of the air pollution and irritating smoke, but it literally clogs up the street with people. I'm inviting anyone to come into NYC on a Friday night in a neighborhood with an active night life and take a deep breath and see what I mean. It's practically as bad as being indoors with a couple of smokers.

if a smoker wants crummy lungs they are welcome to mine. i dont understand why a person would purposely destroy their lungs. and the thing that really bothers me is they do it and then they get lung cancer and start lookin for sympathy or a new pair of lungs. i just feel like a person who smokes is a slap in the face to me. i just wish it was banned altogether !

I 'm with all of you. It's so pitiful when you see people smoke, espeically friends and family, and here I am doing between 4-6 breathing treatments a day in order to stay so- called "healthy" and they are destroying the very thing we all work so hard to keep! Go figure! Eva

Almost all of my friends smoke, and it is not a major problem for me. They no that when they are at my house to take it outside and have never had to tell any of them twice. Most of them don't even smoke in there own homes. There is one guy that sometimes is so ignorant that it is sad, because on many occasions he has criticized me.

"You should ride your exercise bike 7 days a week and not 5". "You should join the gym instead of working out at home you would be better off". "Your lungs can't be that bad".
All this time he is saying this crap he is holding a butt.

Wow, Dave... I know I have a short fuse, but if anyone continued saying stuff like that to me after I had informed them of my health... I'd literally break the guy's face against a curb. Curb job!! (American History X reference). But uhh yeah, if that guy was my "friend," he'd certainly leave my house with a new injury everytime. Heh.

That friend of mine has had a cousin and a close friend of his (before I met him) die of CF. So it does suprise the crap out of me that he his that ignorant sometimes.

what gets me is when you walk outside the hospital and one metre from the door there's people with their oxygen masks off, smoking!
another thing that reeeally gets up my goat is when a nurse comes in after their break smelling of smoke. helooooo you work on a RESPIRATORY ward, meaning people with LUNG diseases, are you planning on becoming a patient? its like they have no consideration for us who are unfortunately lying in a hospital bed through no fault of our own and they're out polluting their lungs.
