hey guys, I just got a blender from my future inlaws and totally want to start getting more fruit and stuff in my diet via smoothies, and/or protein shakes, etc. Any good ideas or recipes?

Hi Erin,
Here is my recipe:

First I crush some ice in the blender, then I add:

1/2 envelope Scandi shake
1/2 - whole banana, in chucks so it blends better
small container of yogurt (Mountain High - 4 oz)
One scoop of GenSoy - can find in some grocery stores, but also in Vitamin shops
(in order to add more protein and keep it from being ALL carbs)
Milk - you'll have to experiment how much works for your taste.

I like this because it has carbs, protein, fat and potassium.
I don't know it's calorie count - but it's much more than a Scandi shake alone.

Sean absolutely loves these...

Add (in order)...

1 1/4C frozen berries (we use strawberries)
7oz sweetened condensed milk
1/2C whole milk
1 packet Carnation instant breakfast (vanilla or strawberry)

Blend until smooth.

Add more milk for desired consistency.

One of these is about 800 calories and Sean just loves them. Plus they're a great source of vitamins.

OOO! I love smoothies! My favorite is as follows (you can play with the amounts to taste).

Frozen peaches
Vanilla ice cream
Peach or mango nectar (mango is a little tangy if you like that)
Ice

Throw in the blender with a little protein powder if you like. It tastes like peaches and cream. Yummy!

Reese's peanut butter shake

1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
3 tbs creamy or crunchy peanut butter
3 tbs chocolate syrup
1 1/2 cups chocolate ice cream

Blend it all in a blender, and you get about 1070 calories

Strawberry Jungle Shake

2 cups of strawberries
1/2 cup of crushed pineapple
1/2 cup water
1/2 of a medium banana
6 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp honey

Blend that, and you get about 650 calories, also, the fruit adds some vitamins and nutrients to it.

This is what I use to make my fruit smoothies, you can add in some kind of protein or any kind of weight gainer if you use that.

16oz cranberry juice
4 scoops of rasberry sherbert
2 handfuls of frozen strawberrys
1 handful of frozen blueberries
1 handful of frozen blackberries

mix and eat

you can replace any of teh frozen fruit for any other frozen kind, or switch out the juice for another one too, I just like those.

the following smoothie is packed with vitamins and antioxidants and thanks to the frozen yoghurt is about 500 calories worth. This smoothie once a day is 7 servings of fruit which is in excess of daily requirements...so you can live on mcD's and KFC for the rest of the day!!

3 big scoops of frozen yoghurt (I use mixed berry flavour)
1 slice of pineapple
1 green kiwi-fruit
1 gold kiwi-fruit
1 tamarillo (tree tomato)
Handful of Blackberries
Handful of Raspberries
Handful of Strawberries
1/2 cup orange/apple/cranberry juice

This mixture is very thick it needs to be eaten with a spoon but is absolutely delicious!!
