So mad right now

So I did the 1 hr glucose test this week and they just called to tell me that I was very slightly elevated. So of course they want to send me for the 3 hr one. (I've done it before, with my last pregnancy so I know just how fun it is. btw for that pregnancy, I failed the 1 hr and passed the 3 hr.)

Thing is, they said they want it to be at 130, and mine was 140. As long as I can remember (pre-preg) my glucose has always been around 140ish after a meal, going back to when I was very little. It gets checked 2x a year (more if i'm in the hospital). I've never had any symptoms of cfrd.
For my preg glucose test, they had me eat a normal breakfast, but did not draw my blood till 1:20. (I drank the sugar stuff at 12:20)
I ate breakfast around 9 which was a tiny cup of kashi with milk and a 2 egg omelette with cheese and 2 of those little cherry tomatoes. At 10:30 I had a hard boiled egg to try to help keep me from passing out since I had to wait till after 2 pm to eat next!! Again-common sense would tell me to fast, and do the test first thing-rather than choking down protein and drag myself around till 1 pm for the blood test then. But, I was following their directions. Is it just me?
I am calling this test a fluke and rather than doing the 3hr, wondering if I should just ask to do the 1 hr again.
THOUGHTS??

Hi there,

My 1-hr GTT was also in the 130-140 range. I was sent for the 3-hr test and I passed that one.

I'm hoping that the same thing happens for you where your 3-hr test comes out fine. I have faith that it will being that the same situation happened with you last time.

Keep us updated.

What's the order for a 3 hr fasting or 3 hr postprome (some weird word that means after a big meal I think). I thought the standard was 3 hr fasting and why not get the slip and do it at your local Quest lab first thing in the AM. NO it's not just you, that's a pain in the hinnie. Wastes your whole day, I'd ask to see the literature as to why the postprone (or whatever the word is) and not just fasting???

My doula said the school of thought is that ob's don't want to make a pregnant woman fast if they can avoid it, and since some do pass the 1 hr non-fasting test they do that first.
From what I'm reading and hearing through word of mouth, doula, and midwife, a huge % of women fail the 1 hr test but go on to pass the 3 hr. It seems like almost half of women fail it. So why keep doing it? Who knows. Maybe they really don't want preggers to fast if they can avoid it, or maybe its just a nice extra little charge they can throw in. You hate to think that, but who really knows.
Its not that its a big deal per se, its just that its very stressful and adds more worry to an already stressful time. Especially for a cfer!
