some help with anyone has taken cymbalta

I'm so sorry you are going through this!

Lexapro is a different type of antidepressant than Cymbalta (different class of drug- it's an ssri, and Cymbalta is an snri) so even though the side effect profile is similar for many of the ad's this one may be a better drug for you. (i.e. many abx can cause a similar 'constellation' of side effects if you read the labels, but you probably tolerate certain ones much better than others.) I don't have any experience with this one though.

I can understand you not wanting to mess with your heart w/ another med... but please be aware that herbal supplements can pose just as great a risk~ if not more, since they aren't regulated. I hope you end up discovering something to help, but please be careful. <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Boy, what a good topic. One most don't want to talk about. I saw the wonderful TV where you see the people very depressed, they take the meds and they are all so happy and a part of life again and I thought WOW,that is what will help me. I took one pill and for about 48 hours I couldn't move because of such severe head ache, and my muscles hurt all over. I couldn't eat or drink , I just layed in one position and stayed there.
Also, Lexapro is one of the newest that is given out a lot now. I couldn't tolerate it either. It's weird because I do take Celexa , but , can't tell if it's helped or not, but, it is the same class of meds as Lexapro, just a whole lot cheaper.
Sometimes I don't think they know what to give, it's here ,try this, or let's try that. It gets very hard. I think this site has helped me more than any meds.

I thought I was dealing with depression but really it was mostly anxiety. I was put on Lexapro in January 09 and have had great success with it. I'd encourage you to give it a try. Any of these drugs should be paired with therapy though and many pcps don't equally recommend that like they should. Also, are you exercising? For me Lexapro and regular exercise have managed all my anxiety and depression. I'm now a happy, productive little monkey.
