ditto what wanderlost said. they tend to be overly cautious w cfers and pregnancy, which is better than being too lazy about it sometimes. But look at it this way-OB's in general today are overly cautious with pregnancy. If a regular OB sees anything unusual-anything-they are going to send a 'normal healthy' preg woman for further testing. Imagine how much more cautious an OB will be once they know your circumstances.
I'd go with the OB. You'll be fine.
Good luck and CONGRATS!!!

I saw a peri, but I always thought it was because I had cf, CFRD and was carrying twins. I didn't have much use for the peri though. They did ultrasounds every six weeks and the doctor would come in at the end of the ultrasound (it was all done by a technician) and he'd read the report, talk to me and wave the wand around on my belly for a few minutes. But my pregnancy was also relatively uneventful, aside from the CF, diabetes and twins.

thanks guys! the ob that i'm seeing is, no offense to the guy, but he's an older guy. he said that he hasn't dealt with a patient that has cf in about 10 years. i'm not so sure i believe that he has dealt with someone who has cf. but i'm just gonna do what he says and i'm sure i'll be fine. i think he's just sending me to the specialist as a precaution, to make sure that the baby is growing well. when i was about 6 or 8 weeks i was really sick with morning sickness. i couldn't keep anything down so that also kinda makes me think that's why he's sending me too. but hey i'm hoping they do an ultrasound so maybe i can find out what it is!

I don't have CF, but my pregnancy was monitored by a perinatologist at an MFM clinic. They have some more advanced technology (like FREE 3D ultrasounds of your baby!!!!!) and can do more extensive testing if necessary, than a regular OBGYN's office. I was followed by a peri because of triplets, but I know many other women who, for one reason or another having to do with health problems or a history of problem pregnancies, have been followed by an OB and a Peri. I personally think a "team" of doctors can sometimes be more beneficial than just one alone.

Congratulations on the pregnancy!!!
