I saw a maternal fetal medicine group for my entire pregnancy. I loved them. The regular OB I had gone to was not the least bit knowledgeable about CF, so I don't go there anymore. THe MFM group has treated many CF patients, and there were others at the same time as me I am told. I think the only difference was more ultrasounds. They were willing to let me CF doc still run the show as far as meds and treatments ( he made me come every 2 months instead of every 3) I had a c-section, but only because that was the only was the baby was going to make it out. the MFM was trying to avoid it. I went into labor naturally on my due date. Which made me laugh since everyone was just sure that I would go early b/c of the CF

i totally agree with you! my regular ob i don't feel like he knows much about cf, but the specialist i saw today seemed to know a lot. he said that he's had several patients with cf in the past. and he seemed like he actually knew what he was talking about! i think i'm going to him every 4 weeks. my specialist thinks i will go early because i'm tiny. so we'll just have to see.

my regular OB knows nothing about CF and makes sure to ask me every visit if I'm keeping my appointments at the CF clinic. He also feels more comfortable with me doing concurrent care w/ the perinatologist but we'll see if I decide to do that again. I think he's a little intimidated by me but he's a great guy and is a rare OB who isn't as intervention happy as most. Doesn't matter this time around since I'm doing a home birth w/ a midwife but I'll still see the OB during the pregnancy just to have a continuity of care in case I end up needing the hospital for delivery.
