When I go to my clinic there is the patient paper I give back to the nurses when I leave. On it is CF and under it is listed 4 stages (I think it is 4). Mine is always checked next to 3. I am pretty sure it says stages NOT classes. I will have to look next time I am there...might be this Wednesday. I will let you know what I see.

Only since it was mentioned already... there are 5 classes of mutations. Delta F508 is a Class II, and it does not mean that the CFTR doesn't function at all. Class II means "Class II mutations (e.g., delF508, N1303K, and delI507) disrupt normal intracellular processing (e.g., glycosylation), causing instability of CFTR protein, or interfering with its movement to the correct cellular location." The non-functional CFTR comes with Class I.

stage 2 is moderate obstructive pulmonary disease with pfts between fev1 50% -75%.
Stage 1 is mild obstructive pulmonary disease with fev1 more than 75%.

Hope this helps.
