Update: May 8, 2007

Well I got through the first shot of stims. It was really scary at first. I felt like I was stabbing myself with a pen, oh wait I was! But after I had a quick meltdown to my dh, I swallowed my fear and took it. I was so proud of myself and it reallyw wasn't that bad! So far I am just on 225mg of Follistom but will then go in on Friday for an ultrasound to see where I am at. I pray so hard this will all work out and that ten weeks will go by very fast!(I say ten weeks because that will be the last of pio/how funny I am counting down pio days when I haven't started yet)..

So far the RE says I only have to take it easy one day. I can't do anymore jogging until my pregnancy test which is really hard for me since I am addicted to exercise ( I walk 3miles a day have been doing it since I was in high school)

Oh my DH and I finally got our wedding album. Check it out here is our link to it:

Hopefully these eggs will grow soon!

So good to hear you were able to do the first shot successfully. I remember being sore so I rotated around my belly button in a circle, as to not shoot in the same spot for a few days.

Just take it easy on yourself over the next few weeks. Take some long relaxing baths, get your body (mentally moreso than physically) ready for a pregnancy. Envision your embryo or embryo's implanting (I know, sounds corny but I think it helped me!!!) and just relax as much as possible.

Keep us posted, I'm pulling for you!!!

Hi Tara, Julie, Kelly, Nicole et al,

I am a week into my stims and after a scan today all seems to be going reasonably well. Have 10 follicles at about 10+ and a good few more smaller ones which may come on. Also lining is "thickening up nicely". Due for another scan on Friday and hopefully EC at the start of next week.
Seems a lot fewer follicles than you Tara but fertility nurse said there was "plenty of activity" and they didn't want to risk overstimulation.
By the way at my clinic they don't recommend any bedrest after ET, they advise to go back to normal - what do people think?

Anyway good luck Kelly with your stims and talk to you soon,

Elizab x

Eliz,
What was your ivf protocal? I think it is so amazing we are going through all this the same time together. I am on day 3 today of stims so not quite where you are but will have retrieval sometime next week! I am so excited. I held a two day old baby today at the hospital and am just amazed at this journey we are under going.

I think the couch is a really good idea after the ET. My office's protocol? After the procedure, 30 minutes flat on your back. After that 30 minutes, I then had accupuncture for 30 minutes (paid extra for it, but had it done at the clinic).

In the car I leaned the seat back a bit, but really more for comfort than anything since I was a bit crampy (not bad, just a little).

The rest of the day (got home at about 2pm) I spent on the couch, only getting up to go to the bathroom, and eat. I wasn't flat on my back, but I was down. Doing a lot of visual relaxation (which I had never done before by the way) and just imagining these two embryo's implanting. Implantation doesn't occur immediately, usually within 4-7 days after the transfer. But I think the visual thinking really helped me.

The next day I didn't go to work, I stayed home and took it easy. I didn't spend all day laying on the couch like the previous day, but I just took it really easy. No housework, no cooking, monstly just relaxing.

That's what worked for me.

Have either of you looked into accupuncture the day of the transfer? I HIGHLY recommend it. also pineapple, but it into 5 even sections, INCLUDING the core. On the day of the transfer, after the transfer (abou 4-6 hours) eat one of those 5 sections. Then have one the next day and each day following until they are gone.

THere are alot of conflicting studies done on this issue. From what I have read I dont know that relaxing really imporves implantation but I thinkfor overall reasons, physical and mental it is what I woudl pick. My office is conservative and they have very HIGH success rates so I followed thier protocal, it all depends on whether you trust your docs opinions.

For 30 min afterward lay flat, lay flat on ride home, lay flat on back for first 4 hours total. Then lay in bed but can prop up or lay on side etc for rest firs day. Then 2 days lounging but my DH was so paranoid I was in bed anyway! Then for me it was weekend and I just took it easy and relaxed. I took bromelain tablets from healht food store (bromelain is the active ingredient in pineapply core it reduces inflamation). YOu woudl have to eat a dozen pineapples to get a 'significant' amount of bromelain from a fresh one of course fresh is probably better than pills also. Just depends on what you read I think.

UPDATE:

Tonight will start day 5 of 225mg of Follistom. I went in this morning for my blood work and ultrasound. The tech said she saw about 11 on the left and about 10 on the right all size 8mm <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> but that my lining went from a 4 on Monday to a 7 today.

I don't know why I am only at an 8 today and am feeling down right now! I have at most 9 more days to go on stims and am awaiting to hear if the RE wants me to change my dose! Anyone else have the same problem!

Feeling Discouraged!
