We use the pasta pot. I tend to clean and boil the neb cups first thing in the morning and then they are ready for the day

I wash them in hot soapy water, rinse and then put in a microwave safe bowl add water to cover about 1/2 way and then nuke them in the microwave for 7-8 minutes. Then take out and air dry. I have boiled and also used the machines that steralize the baby bottles, but always come back to the microwave.

When I talked to my RT, he said that I shouldn't boil my nebs...just boil the water, remove the pot from the stove, and soak them in the hot water. Does that sound less effective? Have you been specifically instructed to boil the nebs for 10 minutes. It makes sense to me, but I was told to stop.

I will only use my nebs once and then it's time to boil. However, if I do albuterol I will follow it with hypertonic (in the same cup at the same setting). Hopefully that is not a problem. And then Pulmozyme is always seperate.

I boil them for at least 10 mins (often times forgetting them until I hear them boiling and rush to the kitchen). Then I pour them in a strainer, pop them in the microwave for about 30-40 seconds to help dry them and then put them on a clean cloth or paper towels until they are dry. I store them in a clean gallon size Zip-lock bag.

It's annoying how much work it is and I recently called my nurse so she could order me a bunch of nebs so I'm not boiling them all the time, but 3 nebs was $75, they are not covered by insurance. So obviously, I didn't order any.
