The effects of anabolic steroids on your heart would be the same as anyone elses...bad. But a lot of people do fine on them. My advice as a certified personal trainer: heavy weights, high calories, and hard work is the way to bulk up. Send me an email if you'd like a workout, I'd be happy to send you one.

Sorry, but pumping yourself full of steroids is foolhardy. I refuse to even take steroid medication for CF, so I sure as heck won't do it for a workout. You're asking for trouble with your heart down the road, and plenty of abuse on your kidneys as well. Not to mention the fact that you'll build muscle faster than your tendons can keep up with, and so you'll increase the likelihood of serious injuries.

If you want to beef up, experiment with different natural supplements (Vitamins, protein, etc.). Also, remember to gradually increase the weight you work with, and keep at it. It's all about consistency! I've been hitting the weights off-and-on for three years now, and I've gained 30 lbs. during the process. The only supplements I've ever taken have consisted of one protein shake/bar after a heavy workout, and sometimes an energy sports drink beforehand (Lately combined with a recovery/energy pill as well, all natural).

Remember, steroid induced muscle growth is somewhat false strength, and it's better to have functional strength, even if you're not as bulky as you wish to be. Just experiment with different natural supplement intakes, but be careful about what you take (As an individual with CF, I stay away from amino acid supplements too). Good luck, and keep up with your workouts!

FYI- If you want to know some great supplements that have worked for me, hit me up!

I wanted to also add another piece of steroid related information. Steroid use makes you more susceptible to not only contracting Pseudomonas pneumonia, but it also makes it harder to detect. Please don't take this route, and beef up naturally! Again, if you want to know of some great, natural supplements that have worked in a fellow CF patient such as myself, I'll be more than glad to help folks out the best I can!

Dude, im 22 and six months ago I took a six week cycle of Trenbolone acetate with Testosterone. My advice? I got 14lbs in the six weeks, and now I still kept 11 of em' w/o being on the cycle for six months... Do it. No negative side effects except a lot of sweating but make sure you take in a lot of salt and you'll be fine. Dont let people preach to you about kidney damage and all that nonsense. They obviously are going on what they have heard from mass speculation and havnt done their home work. As long as you stay away from a select few like Anadrol, you'll be fine. Stick with IM injectable steroids as the oral ones are the ones that could cause very little damage because of compounds they have to put in the pill so the liver doesnt break it down which would also destroy the steroid in it. Just look over the web and google it, do your home work, and stay on a safe manageable starter dose. I also advise you take only the steroids with acetate esters as they are short acting and if by chance you do have some minor side effect like acne, you can just stop taking them immediatly and within 48 hours the steroid will be completely be out of your system. If you dont wanna do them or you feel hesitant, just dont do em'. But from my expierience I think they are a powerful tool for your weight, strength, and health. Just educate yourself and be smart about it!<br>

Lol @ the posters saying don't do it... the media has scared you all senseless regarding the term 'steroids'.

Unless you abuse steroids, there is little to any harm you can do to your body. Show me one iota of proof, proving they are harmful if used properly, and as intended..... You won't.

When i was 21, i was your height, 5'9.5'', and 126lbs.... theres not much you can do to bulk up other than spend a whole lot of money (that you probably don't have) on food. Don't go eating those 1000-3000 calorie shakes that everyone touts, as they are filled with empty calories that only make you gain some fat, and also make you ***** your brains out 4-5 times a day.

Eat chicken, LOTS of it. Learn to love chicken like it was your only child. Do protein shakes, High protein, and mid range calories (walmart has Body Fortress brand protein powder with 56 grams per 2 scoops and roughly 300 calories).
Lift. Go to the gym 3-5 times per week, and Lift Hard. Lift until the muscle group you are targeting that day fail. ( if done properly, you should be done in an hour or less.) Make sure you incorporate pasta on days you go to the gym.

As for supplements..... Don't start off on steroids just yet. Go to smartpowders.com or similiar, and order the creatine ethyl-esther, along with DAA (asparctic acid, i use the e-pharm brand TestForce2) and use those for 6 months before deciding to use any roids.... (reason is you want to have a base of natural muscle before you go gaining a lot of fake muscle, in which you will lose 40-60 percent of what you gain while on a cycle)

As stated earlier... find low fat foods, that are super high in protein.. fat free cottage cheese, fat free milk, CHICKEN, Turkey, Low calorie high protein content protein shakes, and just eat. Protein intake should be 2x your body weight in grams, and dont really count calories. Eat pasta and rice on days you lift heavy, and an extra protein shake on days you rest.....

I wish i knew what i know now when i was 21, it would have spared me years of agony and figuring out how to gain weight.

Feel free to PM me if you want some more tips... i went from being in my 120's to where i am at now in the mid 170's without using steroids... it is possible, but you need to be dedicated to the gym, and to good quality food as well. The DAA, and Creatine listed above will help all that much better.
