This is veering off topic, but I never had an issue with telling people about my cf. Esp a person that I won't see again, like someone on a plane or a cab driver. I can see if you were getting out of the cab and leaving...But for the most part, I do not see the big deal about saying-I have cf, so I cough all the time. I'm not catching, don't worry.
I never understood why other cfers don't tell people about their cf. Not judging, I just don't get it. I never had an issue with that.

I dont actually have an issue with telling people I have Cf, I am actually quite open about it. This situation just caught me off guard in a sense and I was just jumping outa the cab so I wasn't goig to start going on about it. Plus although he made me mad, I didn't want to make he feel stupid about it or feel bad. It's probably not a big deal what happened but it just opened my eyes to what people really think when they hear me and actually embarasses me a bit!

Karen,

You handled it the right way. I would have been more confrontational but polite. I would have educated him right on the spot. I saw how some people treated my Nephew. I got a few of them straighten out.
<br><br>
Perhaps your cabby should consider a new career if he's germ-phobic. He's driving a petry dish on four wheels. The irony is that he and his vehicle could make you sicker. CF patients roll the dice every time they leave home.
<br><br>
But you are right. People are ignorant and it's up to us to edcuated. They are also afraid of something they don't understand. I totally accept that but when they refuse to learn, then they are miserable superficial vacuous cowards. And there are plenty of them in this world.

Maybe it was his tone of voice that set you off? If he was polite and caring, perhaps you would have shared? When people sound mean and rude, I would not take the time to educate them. Or I might say, I have a life threatening disease, perhaps you need to run for the hills lol. Tone of voice and body language are great forms of expression.
