well, my pari pro neb ultra ii DIED last night. i think it was no longer creating enough air pressure to work properly. *sigh* i called Pari. they do not repair only replace these models (can someone say "they don't make 'em like they used to!") i have to send in my old one, they test it and such and get back to me within 48 hours of when they recieve it. then they send out a new one. i'm figuring it will be 3-5 days until i see a new one. what am i supposed to do??

meanwhile, i have a Pari Trek, which i have not put my hands on since i moved 2 months ago. i have searched the house and cannot find it. it is very frustrating to lose something anyway, let alone when your health depends on it!

i figured my best option was to order a new Trek. they have a newer model out than the one i have, the S. i found a company with a great price--$68!!--and paid another $50 on top of that to have it overnighted to get here by wednesday.

what am i going to do for two days?!? doing my vest doesn't really do anything without my hypertonic. i've just been trying to cough stuff up and stay hydrated. any other suggestions?? help!

**UPDATE**
i woke up this morning and my Pari Trek had arrived!! it felt like christmas. i actually called the guy at the company i ordered from to thank him. when i ordered yesterday (about 4:30 p.m. by the time all was said and done) he said he'd try to get it out yesterday but it would probably go out this morning and arrive wednesday. (i paid an extra $50 to have it overnighted.) what a difference a day makes without meds--i'm SO happy it got here.

just a little note, the Trek S is smaller and a lot quieter than the old Trek. it also comes in a cute little case. the neb stream is strong, but it seems to slow a bit when using it for as long as i do my vest (30 mins.) also, instead of having a slot on top where you can rest the neb cup when not in use, there is a place for the end of the butterfly tubing to fit into--i just figured that out--pretty clever.

here is the link to the company since i think they are so fabulous. the Trek was only $68! much lower than elsewhere online. the combo kit is only $100! great prices.

I got stuck a couple of years ago with mine dying. I went to the local healthcare equipment place and bought one out of pocket. In the meantime I had my doctors order a new one for me. I still use the one I bought out of pocket. I have the one thru my insurance sitting as back up. I think its always good to have a back up. You never know.....

maybe i should have done that. i have just had such BAD experiences with local healthcare places. and they want to charge you so much more than you can get them online. (i know b/c i only bought my compressor a few months ago.)

Probably a good idea to have a spare. We have a pari proneb ultra that we use for travel and a devilbiss pulmoaid we have for every day use. Last year, the 1-year old pulmoaid started to die and got sent back to the company.

Was still under warranty, but it took two weeks before they sent us a replacement. Since the Pari II have come out, I've been toying with the idea of getting a new one at some point, being that the pari we use for travel is about 4 years old and for the first year was our one and only nebulizer, but after hearing people are having issues with those, thinking I'll wait awhile.

know anyone with asthma that has one? My cousin has asthma and has a nebulizer...I've borrowed hers before.

I had 2 compressors...a devilbiss for my regular and a PARI for my spare and they both died within 24 hrs of eachother. So having a spare does not mean you won't ever find yourself without one!

I don't really have any advice but I just wanted to say that I really admire you. I will be honest and don't do my medicine nearly as well as I should and if my machine broke I just wouldn't do my medicine for those days. I read you post and it just really got to me about how much more dedicated I really should be. I know it and yet I still don't do it. But then it made me think of the people out there who don't have machines, either for a few days or for longer, and here I am having a perfectly good one so it is selfish of me not to use it.

I hope you find an answer and thanks for your post<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
