Surgery gone wroooong!

Ugh what incompetence. That's really a serious incision there... I have one that size myself.

I'm going to second AnD's suggestion about the pillow for coughing. After my surgery I walked around everywhere with a pillow because otherwise it felt like I was going to blow my guts out.

Another thing you should make sure to do is try to stand up straight as best you can. It's a natural reaction with an abdominal incision to kind of hunch over and baby it, but it helps in the long run to try to sit up straight, and walk as much as you can. Set a goal for yourself. I think I was only in the hospital 11 days after my sugery because my mom told me I had a Super Nintendo waiting for me at home when I got better. (I was pretty easy to bribe with video games at that age )

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. I wouldn't worry about worrying your parents, tho. They love you as much and sometimes a little distraction helps, plus it would help them to feel needed.

I have no advice (I was going to offer the pillow thing, too), but wanted you to know I care and prayed for you.

Hi : I know you didn't want to hear this but this is probably the most important time to pray and talk to God. But even if you don't Jesus is walking beside you in this struggle and will help you through it. God does not want us to struggle but the only way to know pure joy and the incredible miracles of life is to go through what we all go through in life. We would never know joy if we didn't struggle. That does not mean we can't be angry and search for answers and problem solve. That is our God given fighting spirit.

You will get through this and are obviously a tough cookie. You are a warrior.

CF is your fighting grounds you will prevail.

Remember any positive thinking is only going to help. Whenever negative thoughts or sadness escape me , I grab hold of them and allow them to come but then turn them into positiv energy.
It takes practice. Im not to good at it But I practice it everyday. Especially while Im in the hospital.
My doctors approached me the week about going on the bipap machine, Immediately I got sad and scared and within an hour I said to my self. " Self", I have a proacitvemind and using the C pap is proactive. so that is what I am going to do, But it begins with research. All of a sudden I felt empowered and was very well aware of the change of emotion and mental process that turned my thoughts around. Perhaps my faith has somewhat to do with that, I trust that God will carry me and my faith allows me to look to prayer and guidance from God. I know you need more than that, and I hope I haven offended you in anyway. but I just thought I would make a point to say you can have both instead of one or the other . So often people turn their backs on God in times of struggle because they feel betrayed by him or he isn't doing them any good, But It simply is not true. I wish you comfort and quick recovery and minimal pain as I think to wish you know pain is unrealistic. But I feel for you. Hopefully this will be something you can look back on and say , " Man, I can' t believe all I have conquored in my life."

On a more practical note I use meditation for pain, Sometimes it allows us to forget the pain even if it is for a short time. Perhaps your doctor can suggest bio-feedback for controllin Pain. There is also a company called Hemi Sync that you can google that has cd's for pain control and healing. It can't hurt. I use this approach to pain and it truly works.

I will try to give you a link to the site.

I couldn't figure out how to attach a link. but you can google Hemi Synch and there are some great CD's to help. Im a big fan .

I can sympathize with you. I haven't been in your exact situation but I've been close. I've had so much health problems that the doctors haven't been able to tell me why. I know it's hard now, but you have support. I suggest to you to use it. After I have had surgery they have put me on pain medicine called Lortab, which isn't as strong as some. There is one I'm on now that does not suppress the lungs and it's called Ultram. You might want to see about that for pain. I would have them keep looking in to what's going on with you pain. There's a reason for it. I had severe abdominal pain one time and they did lap and found that my flopean tube was stuck to bowel that was stuck to scar tissue. If you ever want to talk PM me. I know it's really fusterating when the doctors can't tell you what's going on and why you're hurting. I really hope you feel better.
