Cass started swallowing them a few months ago and she is 3yrs. I noticed that when I opened them and put it on top the applesauce she just swallowed so I put the whole pill on the apples and it went down the same way. We did that for a few mo. Now she takes all 3 without applesauce but she does them one at a time which is still fine with me

M came home in March at the age of 6. Fostermom was putting all his pills in his g-tube except his enzymes which she gave in applesauce *if* she gave it. Within a week, he was furious about the applesauce (gee, good thing we knew fostermom wasn't giving enzymes properly or we would have been terribly confused).

Dh told him to swallow the pills just like he swallos bubble gum. And, he's swallowed every pill since that day.

My daughter also just swallows she is not yet 2 and has been swallowing 2 capsules whole for about 3 months (since she was 19 months.) I had also noticed that she does not chew other things and one day just tried the enzymes and we had no problems. I did have to remind her a few times not to bite them but now when I give them to her she tells me no bite.

Neither one of my girls swallow their enzymes whole, and they are 10 and soon to be 9!!

Kayla was swallowing them at the age of 4 or 5, but then about two years ago just stopped and would start gagging everytime she tried. It was so discouraging. It was so much easier when she could do it Hannah has tried off and on again, and still no success. I think one time she 'accidentally' swallowed one, lol! But never to do it again.

Soooo, instead, they just open up the capsules and pour them in their mouths and wash then down. Whatever works, I guess. The worst thing about doing it this way is that they still have yet to figure out how to get those little empty capsules into the trash instead of on my kitchen counter
