Ugh! What a pain! And since you were there anyway, would've been nice if they could've gotten the ball rolling and done a blood draw. At least they're proceeding with testing, just a bummer you have to continue to wait.

Good luck with it all. Be glad that they're interpreting the results properly and can go on to the next diagnostic technique. Back when I was a teenager I had borderline CF sweat test results. These were interpreted then (back in the early 80s) as negative. So for years I went undiagnosed. Back in 2006 they repeated the sweat test - also borderline. I didn't know enough to realize there was a grey area of interpretation. I was told again I was negative for CF. Finally after genetic testing at 43 years old, I got the positive DX for CF. You're doing everything right. Just hang in there a little longer! ~Juliet

Yup, you're the post child as to why I wonder sweat tests are even done anymore. it leads to frustration to moms such as yourself.

Make sure you understand how many CF genes they're testing for.

Some physicians only order for the "most common" genes.... instead of the Ambry Amplified test that tests for all known CF genes.

All best the to you.

I'm just so damn frustrated with it all. I really disliked the doctor...gosh I hate saying that. I really felt like he didn't take me seriously and he seemed to not believe me when I told him about CJ's uncle who has CF. His uncle is healthy for the most part, has a very mild variation of CF and his daily life isn't affected all that much. The doc acted as if I was making it all up, that it was completely unbelievable that a man could be 31, in fairly good heath, have 4 children and still have CF. He upset me to the point that I offered to get copies of all of his uncles records to bring in for him to review, the doc obviously declined my offer LOL.
I had to push to get the genetics done...if nothing else, i want (need) to know if CJ is a carrier, that was how I convinced him to do it. He really made me feel as if I was wasting his time...IF we go get a positive genetic test, I think we will be making the trek to Albany, to another care center because I really don't think I could deal with this guy on a regular basis.
