Tears leaving white lines?

Is it normal for a child's tear's to dry up with white lines on their face? I was wondering if it is normal. Does anyone out there know of any child/adult that this occurs to with or with out CF?

I am just waiting on answers from a genetic test - but in the mean time, was looking for answers/advice.

never heard of this. I would think that there are salts in the tears that are crystalising on the skin when the tears are drying up. But from your signature his sweat test is 11? so no abundance of salt as in most cfers.

the only other thing that I can think of is, now this might sound crazy, but there are some people who can squirt things from their tears ducts, and for effect they use milk, which can be seen better for the effect. Tear ducts have a natural passage back down into the mouth cavity, its not always open, but with pressure build up liquids can be forced through. With crying maybe the pressure is allowing milk to pass out along the tear ducts.
I know that seems crazy, but I have deffenately seen people do this on TV shows.

Wow, that is interesting, your right it does sound crazy. And yes, her sweat test was extremely low.

Her eyes have watered from the day she was born, and even when she cries, they leave the white lines down her face. This is not the reason the doc was looking into CF, but it was something I have always thought was weird. Her sinus's are always an issue, so the eye dr said the tear ducts could be clogged, but he wouldn't address it due to her sinus problem, he said once that was resolved - he would try to help with the ducts.
She only drinks one cup of milk @ lunch and one cup before bed - I might try pulling from her for a day and seeing if that is it. Thanks so much for your imput. Again, interesting.
